Infant Jesus Anglo Indian School(IJHSS) was established in 1940 by the visionary and saintly Bishop Jerome M. Fernandez , to cater to the education of the Anglo Indian Community, the then predominant community of the area. The School is situated in Tangasseri, which was a stronghold of western culture with a historical background of ancient Portuguese, Dutch and English settlements.
The School offers all round personality development to the students and help them grow gracefully in the knowledge and understanding of themselves in relation to others and to God.
To create a society of progressive, thinking individuals who will contribute to the intellectual development of the global community by initiating positive changes in the social fabric.
Our mission is to develop young men and women with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs.
The motto “ORA ET LABORA” (“Prayer and Work”) reminds every teacher and every student of IJHSS that faithfulness to one’s duties of life is a necessary consequence of one’s raising of hearts to God.

Classes from I to VIII form the preparatory stage of learning. Students are given adequate foundation in all subjects along with co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Students are introduced to the ICSE Council syllabus only when they reach STD. IX. It is at this stage of get-set that the student gets equipped with the basic learning tools to comprehend the syllabus for the Council Exam.
Even as an athlete who begins the race with a slow pace, increases his speed and gathers his strength as he reaches the final lap, so also a student at this stage gains momentum and energy to reach the finish line.
At this stage, students pass out of the campus, full fledged, in gaiety with confidence and optimism.
It is a long cherished dream come true, for parents, students and teachers.
Even as an athlete musters up all his energy to touch the finish line in the final round of the race, so are the students, at optimum level of positive attitude to step into a world of realities.
The training and experience gained, the knowledge imbibed, enable our students to face the ups and downs in the journey of their life ahead.
